Camilla and Alex chose Middleton Lodge as the setting for their wedding day, and it could not have been more fitting. Middleton Lodge is a 200 acre privately owned estate near Richmond in North Yorkshire, known for its beautiful grounds and relaxed yet luxurious feel. Their Middleton Lodge wedding took place in mid summer, with the estate looking its absolute best and full of life.
When visiting the venue, Camilla and Alex instantly fell in love with Middleton Lodge, especially the Fig House and the Walled Garden, and it is easy to see why. This luxury North Yorkshire venue offers an elegant yet relaxed setting, surrounded by nature and full of character. The Walled Garden was one of the highlights of their Middleton Lodge wedding. Filled with flowers, trees, and greenery, it felt vibrant and full of colour thanks to the mid summer season, with everything in full bloom. Every corner offered a different backdrop, making it a dream location for wedding photography and a beautiful space for guests to explore and enjoy throughout the day.
The morning of this Middleton Lodge wedding began at the Farm House, where Camilla got ready with her bridesmaids. The Farm House offers plenty of space and light, with multiple rooms that work perfectly for a bridal party. The atmosphere was calm, joyful, and unhurried, setting a lovely tone for the rest of the day. Camilla looked incredible in her Adriana Alier wedding dress, and one of the most emotional moments of the morning was when her dad and bridesmaids saw her for the first time. These quiet, heartfelt reactions were a joy to photograph and added so much meaning to the morning.
Alex spent his morning getting ready in the house next to the Farm House with his groomsmen. The mood was relaxed and full of laughter, especially during gift opening from Camilla, which brought plenty of smiles and genuine reactions. Before heading to the ceremony, Alex and his groomsmen wandered through the Walled Garden, which provided the perfect setting for relaxed portraits. These moments captured the positive energy of the morning and highlighted how special a Middleton Lodge wedding feels even before the main celebrations begin.
The ceremony took place in a nearby church and was a beautiful celebration filled with happy tears. The flowers lining the aisle looked stunning and created a lovely backdrop for Camilla and Alex as they exchanged their vows. It was an emotional and heartfelt ceremony that reflected them perfectly. After the ceremony, guests gathered outside the church for a joyful confetti moment, full of laughter and excitement, providing a perfect opportunity for natural portraits of Camilla and Alex together. These just married moments felt genuine, relaxed, and full of energy.
Following the ceremony, Camilla and Alex travelled to Middleton Lodge together in a vintage car. It was a lovely personal touch and made their arrival at the venue even more special, marking the start of the celebrations at Middleton Lodge. Cocktail hour took place at the Fig House and was such a pleasure to photograph. Guests enjoyed drinks, music, and delicious food while spending time together in a relaxed atmosphere. Children had plenty of space to run around and play in the gardens, which added to the joyful feel of the afternoon. The Walled Garden also worked beautifully for group photos, offering space, colour, and natural backdrops that made everything feel easy and unforced.

The interior of the Fig House was truly breathtaking. Filled with flowers and candles, it created a warm and elegant atmosphere for Camilla and Alex’s celebration. We captured many portraits of Camilla and Alex inside the Fig House, making the most of the space and beautiful styling. We then headed back into the Walled Garden for more portraits, wandering through different corners filled with flowers, trees, and greenery. This space offers so many varied backdrops, and their portraits here turned out absolutely stunning.
As guests took their seats inside the Fig House, Camilla and Alex made their entrance and the speeches followed shortly after. The room quickly filled with laughter and emotion as family and friends shared heartfelt words, personal memories, and plenty of funny stories. These speeches felt deeply personal and gave everyone a wonderful insight into Camilla and Alex’s relationship, making this part of their wedding incredibly meaningful and memorable to witness.
After the meal, everyone was excited for Bernie, Camilla and Alex’s dog, to arrive at the Fig House. We took some lovely portraits of the three of them together, which added such a personal and joyful touch to the day. While guests enjoyed drinks and games in the Walled Garden, Camilla had another surprise planned for Alex. She changed into a second wedding dress by Pronovias, and his reaction was priceless. It was the perfect moment for more relaxed portraits in the garden, making the most of the soft evening light.
The evening celebrations began with cake cutting followed by Camilla and Alex’s first dance, which felt relaxed, joyful, and full of energy. Shortly after, the dance floor filled up with guests dancing, laughing, and truly enjoying the night. The atmosphere was incredible and a perfect way to end their wedding day, with everyone coming together to celebrate well into the evening.
Middleton Lodge is a truly special wedding venue for couples who love luxury mixed with nature. Everything throughout the day felt well organised, and the staff were welcoming, attentive, and professional. From a wedding photographer perspective, this venue offers endless opportunities for beautiful imagery, from elegant interiors to lush outdoor spaces. A Middleton Lodge allows couples to enjoy a relaxed yet refined celebration, and it is always a pleasure to photograph here. There are so many beautiful locations for photographs, and I cannot wait to be back again.
